5 Ways to Deal with Stress
10:29 PMHey y'all! It's been a minute.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So tonight i wanted to talk about something that happens to everyone.
Dealing with circumstances that are stressful, unnecessary, and beyond our control.
I'm sure we have all dealt with those situations before.
Yes, those specific things that really get under your skin can be irritating, but the key in keeping calm is narrowed down to five specific things to remember. I'm going to talk a little about each of those five things tonight, and hope y'all enjoy!
1. Assessing the situation
Yes, i know it would be easier to just go ballistic on that lady that spelled your child's name wrong on their birthday cake, especially when you're already having a not-so-great day. But you know what? That lady could be dealing with something unimaginable compared to what you're going through that day. Do you ever stop and take the time to treat them kindly, i have noticed it makes the circumstances a whole lot better and less stressful to deal with. Next time you're faced with rude, inconsiderate people, just think of what could be going on at home. And who knows? Sometimes it may get you a free cookie, if you actually do happen to be at a bakery :)
2. Just be Nice
I briefly mentioned this in the first part, but it is the most important thing to remember when dealing with extreme stress. When under pressure, it is super easy to pop off and say something you will regret. Just stop and filter your words. Because chances are, if you're smarting off and being rude, it will stress others around you out more. Then you're stuck in a giant revolving wheel of stress, and that is no fun.
3. Find a Solution
This one may speak for itself, but I'm still going to explain it. When you are stuck in that said wheel of stress, it might seem like there is nothing and no one to make it better. Coming up with a plan to minimize stress and organize things will help A LOT! Who doesn't love a good plan for organization, am i right? Having a mental blueprint of your plan and how you aim to fix it is a good beginning to solving the issue with minimal stress and worry.
4. Crack a joke
Every now and again, if the situation allows for it, its alright to crack a joke to lighten the mood. When you're joking and trying to have fun, it helps big time. It will make the people around you less likely to screw up what they're doing because they are worrying about displeasing you, and whoever else is involved. When the air is tense, the people are tense. When the air is light, so are the people. It's that simple. (Of course, there are some situations where cracking some jokes are not appropriate, so please use your judgement on that.)
5. Don't Worry
Sometimes, even when you've tried your best, things just dont work out. And that's okay, but you don't need to worry about it!! Whatever happens, happens. Sometimes you just cant do anything about it and you should accept it. Does that mean stop trying? Heck no! You should try as hard as you can before realizing whatever situation you're in is impossible or just not going to work. You should always have a plan B and a plan C, and plans d,e,f,g,h,i,j,k and so on. There can never be too many backup plans. But dont let it discourage you from trying something different if what you're doing just isnt in the books for you! Always be open to new ways and just most importantly, DONT WORRY. God's got you. And the turnout, but mostly you.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So those were my five steps to dealing with stress and those sucky inconvenient situations that everyone hates! Obviously these wont help every situation, but there is always an element to incorporate into every situation and daily life. God's Got This!!!!
Remember that.
