~The Deepest Form of Love~

(november 24th, 2016)

So this is something i wrote last night by hand when my computer crashed, so i thought i would post it today.

When you normally hear people talk about love, its normally pretty cheesy, right?
How there significant other took them on a romantic vacation, bought them expensive crap they don’t need, or other stereotypical mushy stuff.
Now don’t get me wrong, there ain’t nothing wrong with that. If that’s how you wish to express your love, go for it.

But here’s a thought:
Do you ever see the expression of just genuine love for the people that you are not dating? The expression of the raw, real, authentic love that you have for your closest friends?
You would think that expressing love is so much more simple & straightforward, but truly loving someone is not easy.
Everyone always sees the normal part of a friendship. The selfies, the trips, sleepovers.
They never see the darker part. The deeper, more meaningful part. The kind of love towards your friend that you trust to tell the darkest secrets in the most desperate moment of pain. The love that is there at 3:30 AM when all you could do is sit and cry at the text screen, shattered. The conversations about everything under the moon. The deep understanding that nobody could ever see.
Thats the love im talking about.
Until we have seen someone’s darkness, we really don’t know who they are. Until we have forgiven someone’s darkness, we don’t really know what love is.
In order to truly love, you gotta be there for them during the darkest times. Even if all you can do for them is sit and be their rock. Because, Romans 5:8 states:
I loved you at your darkest..
So if Jesus loved us when we are at our darkest, can we do that also?
To me, Love is the rawest form of humanity. Unless you stand before the Lord himself, and he reveals everything about you, loving is the closest you can get to letting your entire self show through. You have to be raw and honestly yourself to have the capability to show true emotion.
When most people hear the word love, they automatically think “Oh, the emotion love.”
In my head, its different.
To me, love is not an emotion. Love is a promise. A promise to be the said open and devoted and wholehearted person who will never give up. Love is an unconditional commitment to an imperfect person. To love someone is not just a strong feeling or emotion. It is a decision, a judgement, and a promise.
After all, the most unconditional love ever known was given and expressed freely at the cross, right?
So cant we try our hardest to love as Christ loved us?
I think we can.
I know we can.
Lets show the world the true meaning of love, as this time and age now is the perfect opportunity. Let’s show them Christ.
